Ask for the Social Clips Before the Shoot, Not After

The shoot was over when the real request arrived.

I have had clients come back after a shoot and ask for new social clips that were never part of the capture plan.

Sometimes the original job was horizontal and the new request needed vertical. Sometimes the moment they wanted was not filmed because it was outside the agreed deliverables. At that point, the editor has fewer choices than the client expects.

A wide frame may not crop cleanly into a vertical close-up. A six-minute interview may need different questions if the business expects twelve standalone clips. A recap brief may not include the clean product and team footage a campaign needs later.

These are not reasons to inflate a production. They are reasons to say what the assets need to become before the day begins.

Before the shoot, agree on orientation, number of finished cuts, raw-footage handling, captions, aspect ratios, delivery dates, and what is explicitly not being captured.

Clear scope protects the creator from an invisible second job and protects the client from discovering too late that the footage they imagined does not exist.
